The new Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport is scheduled to open on October 16, 2023. It is located 50 kilometres east of Siem Reap town and 40 kilometres from Angkor Wat. The airport will have 48 gates and will be able to handle up to 7 million passengers per year.

The new airport will be connected to Siem Reap town by a new highway. The travel time by taxi from the airport to Siem Reap town is expected to be about 45 minutes - 75 minutes depending on the traffic conditions on Road 6. There are currently no plans for public transportation between the airport and Siem Reap town.

The existing Siem Reap airport (REP) will be closed once the new airport opens. The future use of the REP airport has not yet been determined.

Here are some additional details about the new airport:

• The airport will be able to accommodate aircraft up to the size of an Airbus A380.
• The terminal building will have a capacity of 1,200 passengers per hour.
• The airport will also have a duty-free shop, a food court, and other amenities.The airport highway is nearly complete and is expected to be fully finished by September. This will reduce the travel time to the airport to at best 45 minutes by taxi.
• The new airport will be identified by its IATA code SAI.
